Are you craving a sense of deeper community in your life? Our area in the Little Finger Lakes models some unique micro-communities that we will learn from. We are surrounded by 40 Amish families who help one another in daily ways as well as times of crisis, and we will visit one and talk with them about community. Neighboring villages like Naples model a cohesion beyond political ideology and algorithms. We will visit Fruition Seeds and talk with them about their vision of community. We will also take a field trip to the Abbey of the Genesee and talk with a monk about the life-long commitment to living in community in a monastery.
This retreat will bring three B’s together–Buddies (Community), Building, and Biking. In addition to visiting some area communities, participants will learn some basic building skills, working together on some picnic tables for our Lagom Landing community. We will also enjoy hiking or riding bikes over our beautiful hills and valleys at the height of summer, taking in the Finger Lakes and the many communities living here.
