Reveling in the MISTery of Maple Making!

  • Lagom Landing 7966 Reeds Corners Road Dansville, NY, 14437 United States (map)

“Nanabozho’s teachings remind us that one half of the truth is that the earth endows us with great gifts, the other half is that the gift is not enough. The responsibility does not lie with the maples alone. The other half belongs to us; we participate in its transformation. It is our work, and our gratitude, that distills the sweetness.” -Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass, p. 69

The process of making maple syrup allows us to attune to the weather and come online with all our senses.  Collecting buckets of sap and adding them to the barrel, engineering the fire and experiencing the mist of maple-infused water vapor, tasting the richness of sweet maple syrup after we boil off all that water–all these and more are fun experiences we will go through together in this one-day immersion. Breathe in the wonder of the earth coming alive in springtime! We will also share a maple-inspired lunch and delight in the process of receiving a profound gift from our trees. For those who want to learn how to make their own maple syrup, this is a great way to learn.
Suggested Price:  $35/person, but no one interested in joining us will be turned away!
